Outsourcing - Where to Outsource?

Topic Progress:

Now that you've decided it's time to outsource, where can you make it happen? It's important that you find the right people to work with to help you build your business so I'm going to make numerous suggestions to you, so you can suss out which places work best for you.

Ask people in your own network

If you want to outsource tasks locally, then it's great to ask people within your own network. If you need a good bookkeeper, accountant or lawyer then it's good to get someone that is recommended.

Here's how a lot of these online services work (excluding Virtual Staff Finder); Decide what task you want to outsource Post your job on outsourcing website providing details about the job description, budget you want to spend (either for the entire project or per hour) and what skills they will need to complete the job. You can post the job publicly or privately Publicly means that anyone can see your ad and apply for the job or privately means that you can invite specific contractors to apply for the job. Contractors apply for the job and state their budget/hourly rate. This is usually based on what you have already offered. Some will bid below that, some will bid above that and you can then filter through the applications to find the person who best suits you. You can then interview different contractors, or you can get them to do a trial period for you. Sometimes they will do a free trial, other times you can get them to do a paid trial for only a few hours and see what they are able to do that time. Finally you can officially hire them to complete the contract. For websites like oDesk and Elance, you are able to track your contractors work through a 'work diary' which takes a snapshot of their computer so you know they are completely the work that you are paying them to complete.

Oh and don't forget www.fiverr.com - this is an incredibly cool site where people will do almost anything for a 'fiverr'

You can get logo video animations, video editing, graphic design, voice overs, someone dressed up in a santa suit singing happy birthday. You can quite literally get anything done for $5. Now, obviously you might pay the price in the quality of work that is done for you, but it's extremely cost effective if you just need a small job done, really quickly and you don't want to spend the big bucks.
