How To Edit Your Own Videos or Outsource the Editing
How To Create and Edit Your Own Videos
Screenflow (for Mac)
www.telestream.net/screenflow
Screenflow is an incredible program and it makes editing videos really easy. The cool thing about screen flow is you can edit any videos you shoot on your iPhone or your camera and you can also record anything that's on your screen. So if you created slides or you want to show people content on your computer then you can record your entire monitor while capturing audio from your computer or your microphone. I use Screenflow a lot to create a lot of my videos and I highly recommend it!
Camtasia (For PC)
www.techsmith.com/camtasia
Camtasia is another great screen recording tool that also allows you to edit your own videos. Now, I must be transparent and say I've never used Camtasia because I haven't had a PC for over 5 years (I've always used a mac) and therefore this recommendation comes from friends of mine who have used Camtasia. Camtasia allows you to capture any activity on your computer screen, you can create videos, presentations, demonstrations etc. so it's a pretty cool little tool that isn't overly expensive.
So my biggest recommendation here, if you've got a PC is - to get a Mac. If you can't get a Mac then Camtastia is a great alternative to screen flow that you can use to edit all of your videos.
Wistia
www.wistia.com
I love Wistia. Wistia is a professional video hosting company that allows you to upload videos and then embed those videos onto your website. It provides incredible analytics and I can show my videos in HD quality. Wistia also allows you to customise the look of your videos, add links through the video, embed opt in forms, it's mobile responsive and looks a heck of a lot more professional than a lot of other video hosting sites. Plus they allow you to host up to 50 videos for FREE which is incredible. I prefer to use Wistia as opposed to Youtube but it all depends on what your objective is, as there's different reasons to use both. YouTube is public, it's very searchable and it's easy for people to share. Wistia on the other hand is much more professional, it's not reliant on another platform where they control the platform (eg. YouTube can add ads to your videos which is not what you want from a business perspective).
How To Outsource Your Video Editing
Upwork
www.upwork.com
Upwork is a fantastic way to find freelancers to outsource your work. Anyone read the 4 hour work week? It's all about outsourcing the tasks that take up most of your time, and finding people you can outsource to.
On upwork you can hire people from anywhere in the world. There are people you can hire for $3 an hour, up to $500 an hour (I opt for the lower end and you can checkout their portfolio and the reviews they've received from other people who have hired them. Now, there are always pros and cons to using a service like this, but if you're looking to get a video edited then this can be a great place to go to, to get it done for a low cost. It will literally save you hours and hours of time, and you can save a lot of money too!
Fiverr
www.fiverr.com
Fiverr - where do I start? Fiverr is a place where people will do almost anything for $5. While the site has some really random things on there, in between all the strangeness, people also offer to do some really cool stuff for $5, and video editing is one of them.
They also have heaps of other awesome stuff you can do - obviously the quality isn't as high because you're only paying $5 - but it is such a good place to go to if you're starting out, or if you just want to get something done that's cheap but still looks rather professional. Some people offer multiple 'gigs' which improves the quality of the work they do, so this means you can often purchase several gigs and have videos edited to a really low cost.
